Restoring a backup, tip for Newbies !

As a Newbie myself, I have just had real problems installing my back up Tom Tom mobile on a new MMC card.
My original card ran TTM5 for weeks very sucessfully and then for some reason became corrupted. No amount of re-formatting either on the phone or on my pc would repair the disk so I had to buy a new one.
I formatted the new disk on my pc using my card reader and copied and pasted Tom Tom software to it. When I put the card back in my Nokia....it still showed as corrupted !!
Nightmare ! What I did'nt realize was that the MMC card HAS to be formatted in the phone first before pasting the Tom Tom software on to it .

One in 5 card readers will not load the data to storage cards that can be read by PDA's or Phones. Yes, you can see the data via the card reader is on the card, but this is a know problem when used with Windows XP.

I have several PMP's and MP3 players that use sd cards, sometimes it works, but most of the time I have to do it the slow way and connect them to the PC and transfer the data that way which always works.

Some card reader manufacturers do have updated firmware to sort the problem - others say there is no problem!
