I am very pleased with my new 520 and appreciate the use of the data base (thank you) which loaded without any problems.
One v minor point, is it possible to use the device without a destination set, so that it just indicates your current position and of course nearby poi?

Yes you can, just use the next page button to select the correct orientation that you are driving in. |

I use it all the time, just to make sure I don`t miss a camera. _________________ It wasn`t me, I wasn`t there and even if I was, it must have been someone else.

How do you get it to work with NO route set - it keeps giving instructions to turn round, do a U turn etc. |

Have a look at the main menu, if `route information` is highlighted, tap it and cancel route. all you need to do to run without setting a route is switch on, but if a route has been set previously the unit takes it that you want to go there, so you need to cancel any route first.
