Hi all

Looking to buy my first GPS device, wondering if the TomTom GO 300 would be a good option? Requirements:

Musts:
Must be portable (between cars)
Ability to load POI
Will need maps of Europe in the future
Spoken directions

Would also like:
Responds to traffic info
Bluetooth connection for mobile phone

Main car is a Ford Focus (with heated windscreen), will this cause a problem with reception?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
Tim

The 300 can't do that. You would need the 500 or 700.

The 700 can do that 'out of the box'. No need to switch maps either.

It's the reflective windscreen that causes the problem. See if you can borrow a unit to test the windscreen.

Thanks for that, will try and get one to test. My missus can get 15% off at Dixons & Currys, plus you get a free iPod shuffle with them at the moment, so that might be the way to go...

Go300 has no problems though the heated screen in the Fiestas (stupid wires that run though the screen) if its the same sort.

Throughly recommend the TomTom GO. I have a Focus with a heated front windscreen and my 300 works perfectly.

My Go's been very good. They can be a tad tempermental, but just make a backup, keep all documentation, and you won't run into any major problems. Oh, and do what people around here say to do - they're better than most support services (and that goes for ALL manufacturers).
