TT3 GPS Unit and leaving it on charge/ AC car use

I have the older BT GPS unit with the sIRF 2 chipset. I had a feeling that leaving the thing plugged in all the time would ultimately damage it's ability to hold a charge.

Is it intelligent enough to stop trying to charge the battery once is full charged? is there a cradle for the unit so I can wire it into the car and move the unit off when required?

If it contains a Ni-CAD type battery then leaving it on constant charge will eventually cause the memory syndrome and deplete the available storage capacity. If it contains Ni-MH or LI-PO styles then there won't be a problem - to find out the type fitted try the manual or the manufacturers web site. As for securing it down I find some self adhesive velcro stuck to the dash and GPS unit works very well and doesn't cost a fortune - Mike
