Hi, Every1 I'm Matt & i'm new in here, just wanna to say hi to all.
However, there's some question i have that maybe you guys would help me out here. I recently purchased the tomtom software (copy) from a ebay seller for my palm zire 72, but there's no instruction of installation to it. and when i try to contact the seller, i didn't get any reply. The CD contain the Maps, tomtom software, but i just couldn't execute the program when i double click on the red tomtom logo icon. there's a error messages pop out saying "the start.exe isn't a valid win32 application". So please give my some advises. Thank you very much to all. Smile

You need to transfer the files onto the memory card. not in any sub-folders, directly on the memory card. From there you can run the program and this will install.

Hope thsi Helps.

I just went through this, with a factory-sealed package from TTN5 (through TigerGPS). The documentation is awful. They even forgot to include the Application CD in my package!!! So what should have taken perhaps 30 minutes ended up consuming many hours.

Here's the bottom line:

Download TTN5, version 5.12 from here:

TTN5 Version 5.12

You can ignore the warning that it is only for users with previously installed versions. Run the file from your computer after download. You do want to install direct to the SD card, via HotSync. I don't recall the install process giving me the choice, but if it does, tell it to install to the SD card.

Once you've done the HotSync to install the application, you need to install a Voice. You can put in one of the Map CD's to do this. HotSync again, but still don't start up TTN5.

Lastly, in order to install Maps, run one of the Map CD's, select the locations you want, and at one point it will give you the choice of installing to the Handheld, or "Other location (Advanced)" or something like that. Choose that, and have your SD card in your card reader. That will be one of the choices in the next dialogue box. It will then transfer map files from the CD to your SD card.

Then put the SD card back in your device, and run TTN5. It will take you through a few steps to configure it, but you should be good to go.

Why TomTom doesn't encapsulate this kind of information anywhere, neither on their website, nor on the documentation shipping with the software, is completely beyond me.

Let me know if you have any problems. I'm pretty impressed with the software itself, so am glad I bought it. But I think TomTom's support and customer service is pathetic.

I guess i need to purchase it before i can do that or ask a friend of mine for it. I hope that's going to work once i got the reader. Anyway, Thx for much for u guys time and advises. Have a good day! Smile

You don't need it to install the program itself to the SD card - that will be done by HotSync, as well as the Voice transfer.

But to get the maps to your SD card, which can be several hundred megabytes, it will be dramatically more efficient to do with an SD card reader. I tried it by Wi-Fi (which is faster than USB 1.1 HotSync), but it stalled out less than 10% through it. I imagine it is possible to do with a direct wired USB connection via HotSync, but it'd probably take overnight to do it.

Have fun!

I have issues with getting the TT Nav 5 set up too Rolling Eyes

I had Nav 3 and upgraded to Nav 5 running on a PDA. The problem I have is that I get to the "Maps" stage of the set up and it gives me the Options of:

1: Great Britain Plus (208MB)
2: Great Britain (111MB)
3: Great Britain postcodes (9MB)

So do I do 1 (done already) or do I do all 3 or do I do 2 and 3 or what?????? Sad

Just done the same upgrade and was faced with the same options.

Option 1 will give you Europe maps as well, but less detailin GB.

I chose option 2, this gives more detail in GB, it also installed option 3 without prompting.

That's incorrect. GB Plus is the UK Map PLUS Major Roads of Europe. It has the same detail as the standard map.
