I am trying to get a Fortuna U2 USB GPS Receiver to work with Autoroute 2006 and InfoMap Navigator 4.4 (Europe) on my laptop running XP Home without success.
I have set everything up correctly in Device Manager as far as I can see (ComPort, baud rate etc) and dowloaded the correct XP Driver.

When I try to use it with Autoroute I get the message "The GPS is sending messages, but they are not being recognised as NMEA 2.0-compatible. Make sure the GPS receiver input/output format is set to deliver NMEA 2.0-compatible messages at the correct baud (4,800 bps)."

When I try to use it with Navigator the message is "There is no GPS data coming from the selected port. Disconnect? Yes/No"

This has been driving me mad for two weeks - can anyone help please?

Alun

Alun, the GPS unit is probably outputting the positional data in SiRF mode rather than NMEA, on either of the two programs you are using is there an option to select SiRF rather than NMEA within the GPS options?, if not you will need a utility that works on a PC to switch the mode, its easy on a PPC, but never needed to do this using a PC, will have a dig around and post again if I locate something to try - Mike

Hi Mike
Thanks for quick reply - both programs use only NMEA and there is no way to switch.
