Hi,

I'm considering my first gps unit and would like some advice on the Go series.

As a local news photographer, I often have to travel to a number of local villages, often to go to the village church, post office, pub or other such place.

Often I won't have the name of the street or the post code (usually because it's just a lane).

With the TT Go 300/500 or 700, can I simply enter the name of the village as my destination, without giving it a street name or postcode.

Will it tell me that I've arrived (so to speak) when I reach the centre of the village or thereabouts?

Cheers,

Si.

Yes, you can navigate to the town centre. And Jane's voice will clearly announce your arrival.

yes, there is an option to navigate to city (town, village) centre.

You can also scroll and zoom around the map, home in on your chosen place, and then choose to "Navigate There".

Sounds like just what I want.

However, should I get the 300 now, or wait for the ONE?

Si.

I'd choose the ONE. Better GPS receiver, sleeker package. Only downside is that audio output is likely to be not as good as the 300's.

if you get a tomtom navigator, you can download postoffices & newsagents as a POI. then you can navigate to a destination by way of one of those POI's. not sure if the go 300 will let you change these, but i think the go 500/700 does.

Just in case you dont know, POI = Point of Interest

And don't forget that you can add the free speed camera warnings from this site!
