Can someone explain to me the difference between these databases? I know that the PGPS one is free :D and updated by ordinary roadusers, but how is the RA one updated? Do they get the info from Police or some other authority?

I think that the others are updated the same way as PGPS. Before TomTom came along, I was looking at Road Angel, Origin Blue, etc. The general theme of these providers was that if you were the first to find a camera that wasn't on their database, you got a year's free subscription.

I think I'm correct in saying that none offer the free months sub for reporting a new camera any more.

The commercial systems claim to verify each camera using a survey team. This doesn't always mean a better database though.

I review the commercial systems and have yet to find one that I could honestly say had a better database than ours overall. I know I'm biased but for a commercial driver it can make financial sense to invest in a hardware SCD if they are indeed better, what they offer is the ability to filter out cameras on the opposite side of the road which current PDA and PND systems cannot (although this should change) but apart from that if you already own a GPS Nav solution that supports Safety Camera POIs then I would recommend you saved the cash.
