I have loaded up the Liz (Ray Flanangan) voice files on to my XDAIIs and it works fine except it comes up with a question mark instead of the picture and the title Special 27.
My mate has loaded up his Dell x50v with TomTom (full legal copy - I know this fact as I bought them both), his works in the same way but says male and special 15, although its the correct voice and all is working.
Neither unit had a voice folder on the SD card post TT install - I created one and that wouldn't work, (although I have seen that work before), so I deleted it and followed some advice off the TT site and put the voice files into the my documents/ tomtom folder -
Anyone any theory on the two numbers being different, everything is identical except the PDA, and obviously it would be nice to get the pictures working but thats not too bad to live with.
Mike

Mike,

Have you got all 3 files loaded (data75.bmp ,data75.chk, data75.vif) ? On mine I have the 3 files in a \VOICES folder on the SD card. If you want TomTom to find this folder you also have to have a \TOMTOM folder on the card, but this folder can be empty. Liz shows up as special voice 15 with photo.

Yes Mike I've read this and had also worked it out.

To summarise what you do is this :

a). Create a folder on the SD card (in the root folder) called TomTom.
b). Create another folder on the SD card (still in the root folder) called Voices.
c). Copy data75.bmp, data75.chk and data75.vif into the Voices folder.
d). Leave the TomTom folder (on the SD card) empty.
e). Make sure the My Documents / TomTom folder in the main memory contains the default data05.chk, data05.vif, currentmap.dat and Great_Britain_Plus-6b255650 Mac paint image.

That works perfectly. The data05 files are the default UK Jane and the data75 files are the new UK Liz. The picture of Liz (i.e. data75.bmp) also appears on the voice select menu in TT5 as Special 15.

Glad you have got it, but I would shift ALL the voices to the voice file on the SD card as it will free up memory which is in real short supply on a PDA, Jane still works when "moved" as do any others you may have added - Mike
