This maybe posted else where, but I was unable to find it if it does exist on this forum!!

This TOPIC explains how to get the NAVMAN 4420 working with the XDA II / XDAIIi / XDAIIs.

THIS SECTION APPLIES TO THE XDA II ONLY

Connecting the XDA II to the 4420 is possible, you simply required a couple of extra programs to get it working!!

EnableCharPin.zip
BTTools.zip

1)Run both files from your PC, they will automatically install to your cradled XDAII via Activesync.
2)Now SOFT reset your XDA II.
3)On the XDA II tap 'START' > 'Settings' > 'Connections' > 'Bluetooth'. SWITCH ON THE 4420. Now select 'Bonded Devices' > 'New...'. Select 'NAVMAN GPS ONE' and tap 'Next'. Now type 'NAVMAN' (without single quotes) in UPPERCASE and click 'Next'.

NOTE: IF YOU MISTYPE THE PASSWORD AT THIS POINT YOU WILL HAVE TO RESTART FROM THE BEGINING OF '3)'

4)Tap 'Finish'. Select the 'Serial Port' Profile, (you should only be able to select COM7). Tap OK. Now do a soft reset before using the Smart ST Pro Software.

THIS APPLIES TO THE XDA IIi/XDA IIs ONLY

For those of you who have just upgraded (like me) from an XDA II to an XDA IIi may have been disappointed to discover that the 4420 unit doesn't seem to communicate properly with the new XDA IIi.

After a long search I've found that you CAN get the two talking perfectly. The answer is an 'upgrade' of the Bluetooth Managers software on your XDA IIi. This file was originally intended for the iPaq, but I have had NO problems whatsoever with installing it on the XDA IIi!

You DON'T need to do a hardreset or anything to upgrade the Bluetooth Manager, simply copy the CAB file to your XDA and run from there. Once installed, do a soft reset just to be on the safe side.

NOTE:ONCE THE UPDATED BLUETOOTH MANAGER IS INSTALLED YOU CANNOT RESTORE THE PREVIOUS MANAGER WITHOUT DOING A HARD RESET.

Bluetooth Manager Update for XDA IIi/XDAIIs NOT XDA II

1)Copy PDA2K_BroadcomCorp_BTUpdate.cab to your XDA IIi
2)Execute PDA2K_BroadcomCorp_BTUpdate.cab on the XDA IIi
3)Do a soft reset
4)Load the Bluetooth Manager and turn on 4420 GPS unit.
5)Tap 'New' on the XDA IIi, choose ' Explore a Bluetooth device', then 'Next', tap the 'NAVMAN GPS ONE' icon, select the 'NAVMAN GPS' service, tap 'Next', then tap 'Finish'.
6) Tap on 'Tools' in the menu then 'Paired Devices' then 'Add'. Now click on the 'Search Icon' to the right of the device box and tap on the 'NAVMAN GPS ONE' icon. Enter the passkey as 'NAVMAN' (in UPPER CASE and without the single quotes!). Now click on the 'ok' button.

SUCCESS!! Your GPS port should now be COM6:

Weird, mine would pair properly but no data would appear on any of the COM ports (COM6 included). I found a PDF file on the web somewhere about the IIi that listed all known problem blutooth devices and the 4420 was on it (although not the 4410)!

Maybe you had a later of the Bluetooth Manager on your XDA IIi! Lucky you!

I felt the need to post all of this info on the XDA II + range. As it drives me insane trying to find 'one' single place where you can find out if the 4420 works! I hope this helps many long suffering XDA II+ owners!

P.S. Does your Bluetooth Manager have the 'High Quality Audio Setup' and 'Connect to a keyboard' options on it? These are 'new' since I've 'upgraded'.

these must be on the new bt stack you installed i have audio gateway for bt that has always been and if wanted to put a keyboard on it it handle it nativley as its bt stck is very similar to the ipa one bit isnt need that said my 2i is over 9 months old for conversaios ive had with o2 there have been some manufacture changes and this has had some effect for gps use most notably for wired gps users as the process change would not allow a wired gps to use the serial port on the bottom this only affects newer xda2is i can only go off my own experience with my own device
