Sorry, I didn't mean to say iPod, I meant Ipaq. Sorry to have caused so much confusion.

We are not experts (did you guess??) but we have had no trouble using the iRiver and Ipaq chargers. If we are giving unreliable advice we hope someone will pop up on this forum and say so!

As regards how you check the polarity . . . . look for a symbol a bit like - ©+ . It's not actually a copyright symbol in the middle, but indicates that the centre of the plug/socket is attached to the positive voltage.

Regarding whether all 5v chargers are the same ... some are only designed to cope with lower currents - we've seen one one that's specified for only 0.5 amps. Also, obviously, the plugs come in different shapes and sizes.

agoodwin:

1) Yes
2) Have a look on the One itself. There should be a little drawing beside the power socket (well there is on my Go300). Or see below.
3) Probably don't need as much as 2 Amps, but that is the rating of the TomTom supplied charger, so its best to follow their lead.

If you can read Adobe Acrobat files, there is a picture of the charger with a picture of the connector polarity HERE

Has anyone found a way of deleting entries in the 'Recent destination' "folder".
I can delete/add 'Favourites', 'POI', 'addresses' etc, but the above "folder" seems to be filling up with all sorts of insignificant details which are no longer useful to me, as any useful details I need are converted to a Favourite or POI.
The only way I can remove them is to do a Factory reset, but that defeats the object when it deletes everything else as well.
I'm sure there must be a way round this, but I'm going cross-eyed trying every which way to solve it.

Don't worry about the Recent's, as you add new ones the oldest will fall off the list. It contains 24 at most.

Deleting the .cfg file in the Map Folder will cause TT to generate a new cfg file, but you also lose all the preference settings, Favourites, etc. You don't lose your POI, only the 'Warn When Near'.

Hemlock. I think your post would have been better off as a new topic - this thread seems to be getting a bit unwieldy.
This recent post might be what you are looking for though....

I've just bought a TomTom ONE from Currys. They happily price matched PC World at £219 and took a further 10% off the difference bringing it down to £212. What a bargain! Comet next door has removed all stock from sale (14 in stock). The manager told me that he had a memo from Head Office last night NOT to price match PC World on this Sat Nav as it would mean selling at a lose.

That makes me giggle - Currys and PC World are both part of the Dixons Group!

You managed to get a discount by playing the right hand off against the left hand!! Laughing

:D Guys Rock and Roll as now PC world has lowered the price for ONE to 219 GBP (on collect@store scheme) beating argos :D

I bought my unit today and took it for a test drive ... Man this is the best stuff from TOM TOM ..... mindblowing at this price... I gace quite some time on comparing this with iCN510-520 or Medion PNA 175 and 300 and Germain but finally decided to go for after having the demo with great TTF and effective voice support... in this price ramge...

Cons : Must be supplied with AC charger as standard kit ... are you hearing me TOM TOM Guys Sad[/i]

In the new edition of PDA Essentials & GPS Advisor, there is a good review of the Tom Tom One. It gets a 92% rating.
