Hemlock - I think what they mean is that you need to use a card that can be read at 10MB/sec. i.e. you need to use a 66x card, your 40x card may not be fast enough and that's why it's being rejected. As far as I know you can't alter the read/write speed.

If an Sd Card reading at 40x wont work then how come a bog standard SD card of which I have 2 work ok, also what is the read speed of a standard card.

Seems to me that your 40x card may be faulty or that some files are missing.

I am not sure what all the fuss about 40x ,60x speed rated cards is all about, I use standard SD cards which as far as I am aware do not have a speed rating and work just fine.

As for why your card does not work is a mystery.

I did have a few problems formatting a card under Win XP so decided to format the card in my camera, after that not problems at all.

Hi,

Buffy Beagle posted that he is charging his TT One with an iPod and an iRiver charger. How are the two connected?

I have an iPod 4G charger and want to charge the tomtom one with it. What cable do I use?

The TomTom has a mini usb port and a 5v power plug and the iPod charger has a firewire output to a proprietary iPod connector.

How can the two go together - apologies if I'm being dumb here.

TomTom does not use the USB port for charging. There is a separate socket that takes 5 volts.

Personally I am using a Sony PSP Charger with my ONE again same voltage and socket,

Hello Tony,

I'm afraid I've no idea whether the TomTom ONE can be charged via its USB socket. The only device we have with a battery that I know can be charged via USB is the iRiver.

What we are using for charging the TomTom One is the mains charger which came with the iRiver. This plugs into a socket on the iRiver similar or identical to the 5v socket on the TomTom One. We've always been cautious about using one device's charger for another device, but after speaking to our local electrical shop we decided that provided voltage (5v), polarity (positive centre), and current (2 amps) were compatible, and provided the plug fitted the socket we couldn't cause any damage!

Thanks for that Buffy, its just with you specifically mentioning the iPod charger I wondered if I was missing something.

So what you mean is that you don't use an iPod charger like you said but just an iRiver one?

I seem to remember an old GameGear I have lying around somewhere with a 5v charger and a plug that looks pretty close to the TT's! What you are saying is that the charger needs to be:

1) Voltage (5v)
2) Polarity (Positive Centre) - how can you tell this? Which symbol?
3) Current (2 Amps)

Anything outside this is too risky? Obviously I'm not going to try anything massively outside this but aren't all 5v chargers pretty similar? Feel free to shoot down my near total lack of electrical knowledge!
