Hi,
I've been trawling through all the relevant threads on the forum on how to set up my tom tom and nokia n-gage to work with Traffic using Vodafone PAYG with no luck Sad. I normally consider myself to be pretty PC literate but im stumped!

I hve tried to setup the n-gage with an access point using the info from the filesaveas site used pp.vodafone.co.uk and password/username of web on the tomtom, but im not sure what i should be using for the login script, i've tried the one shown on the tom tom site but with no joy...

If anyone could provide some assistance on exactly what i need to put in my n-gage and the manual setting for the tom tom I would be enternally grateful!

(I have contacted Vodafone and had my GPRSservice activated)

Thanks in advance!

The phones GPRS settings would seem to be OK, as I have got a working internet connection with it on my laptop using a bluetooth dongle, and the TOM TOM pairs with the phone OK, and seems to identify its various functions. But i cant get any further... So I'm assuming it must be the DNS settings, login script, or IP settings...

Carl.

HI,

I wonder if you could help me ?

I have a nokia ngage qd and have purchased a copy of tomtom mobile 5 ....... which doesn't seem to work on it.

How/where do you get tomtom go which will work on a qd ? (I'm desperate for some sort of navigation as I'm particularly bad with directions !)

Thanks

Try these work for me
On the Nokia enable BlueTooth via

1. Select Menu

2. Select Connect

3. Select Bluetooth

4. Turn Bluetooth On

5. My phone’s visibility – Show to all.

Pair the devices and set the Bluetooth Modem on the IPAQ.

1. Select the Bluetooth Manager

2. Select Search

3. Put a tick against your phone and Save

4. Select Ok and Ok which should return you to the Bluetooth Manager

5. Select your phone which will now list the Device Information

6. Select Action

7. Select Create Bond with this device

8. Enter PIN code and Ok

9. (The Nokia should now ask for the same PIN code. Enter and Ok)

10. Hold down pen on the Nokia icon.

11. It should now give the option to Set as Bluetooth Dialup Modem

12. You should now see a Blue circle with two white arrows over the Nokia phone.

13. Quit the Bluetooth Manager

14. Select Start

15. Select Settings

16. Select Connections

17. Select Connections

18. On the top dropdown menu select New

19. Enter internet in the name box

20. Select the modem tab

21. Enter internet in the name box

22. Select Bluetooth Dialup Modem in the drop down box

23. Select Next

24. Enter *99# in the phone number box

25. Select Next

26. Untick Wait for dial tone before dialing

27. In the extra dial-string modem commands enter (case sensitive) +CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”pp.vodafone.co.uk”

28. Select Finish

29. Select Ok

30. Select Connect

31. Enter web and web in the user name and password

32. Tick save password

You can connect now or selecting internet explorer should automatically start to connection

The setting given by Tomtom for vadafone are contract not payg. payg settings are:
pp.vodafone.co.uk
web
web
*99#
+cgdcont=1,"ip","pp.vodafone.co.uk"
Note the login scipt has beginning and end missing; this is the difference.

It doesn't matter about country, network etc. just put this info in and it will work. Currently £7 per MB and costs 5p per update for me.
