Hi,

I'm looking for a good and cheap bluetooth GPS receiver. I've been searching ebay for some good deals and I found two models that seem to be nicer. Nevertheless I would like to get your opinion on this matter.

The first model I ran onto is a "sale everywhere" model. Here is an ebay webpage with this product. The brand is QStarz (I guess it is an unknown brand), and its specs are, at a first glance, good.

The other product that I found (while looking for SiRF III models) is this one. It's a Globalsat model.

Does anyone have a good experience with these models? Are they suitable for GPS navigation using either a PDA or a smartphone (assuming that one has the proper software)? Are there any drawbacks on these models?

Best regards,
Norberto

i have heard nothing about the first GPS that you have listed but i have heard good comments on the Globalsat, if you are going to buy from ebay make sure you get it from a UK dealer who will cover the warranty, don’t want to have to ship to the other side of the world do you?
The holux 236 is the GPS i have been using and find it to be good also, it has external battery so can be replaced and it is high sensitivity Sif Star III

Some ppl seem to be having problems with the globalsat SIRF star 3. However the HoluX star 3 seems to be going guns at the moment.

And at only £75 inc P+P from ebay its a bargain for a reciever that will work from inside your glove box!

SHould anything go wrong, I think Holux UK will sort it out. They do charge for postage and I think a tenner to have a look at it. But Hopefully if nothing does go wrong you'll save a packet. Other retailers charge £115ish and you still end up paying for postage etc.

THe BT-77 you point out cost around £50, but for a few more quid Id persoanlly go for somthing decent.
