using avoids

is this a known problem ???
at the moment my main route to london has roadworks on it which is showing up on traffic ,anyway my problem starts when i do a update which then shows i have roadworks on my route ,i then click on the r/works right click so avoid shows up then i click avoid ,but after that it tries to update again but seems to fail and the little arrow in the traffic bit just keeps on going and going ,the only way to stop it is to exit tomtom ,but when restarting it has lost it destination ,and i have to redo my destination
or is there a cure for this
