|
|
Hi,
Any Suggestions as to where I can pickup a cheap home charger for the Navman 510? (Don't really want to pay Navman £25+postage!)
Are there any third party chargers that work with this unit?
Finally, might be a daft question, can you leave the Navman charging in a car, without the engine running, overnight? Don't want a flat battery!
let me know and many thanks

The Motorola V500 mobile phone charger is the same Voltage and works the same. I use their in-car charger as my in-car Navman charger. To be honest though, it would probably cost just as much as Navman's charger. |

Thanks for that. Could be really helpful as I know phone chargers are always really cheap and common to find second-hand.
Not sure if the V500 fits the Navman 510 though as I thought the V500 had a two pronged plastic connector rather than the very thin single metal plug.
Will check it out though... |

I've left mine on charge overnight OK. Schoolboy physics tell us that once your unit's charged the current will drop to zero, near enough, because there's no longer a voltage difference between the battery's voltage and the input voltage. |

It is is not the V500, then it is another model. My mum has the actual phone charger that fits (that's why I know) so I will have a look and let you know. |

Hi,
Sorry to be a pain. You mentioned that you used the motorola in-car charger for the Navman.
Have you actually tried the mains charger. Still a bit worried that I might fry the unit!
thanks again,

Look at the voltage on the in-car charger. My navman mains charger is 5v and the car charger is around the same ... perhaps 5.5v. If you're not above this, you'll be fine but if you're below 5v it will take a longer charging time because there's insufficient difference between the less than 5v charge and 4.5v battery. Its the difference between the two that causes the battery to charge, evetually ending up with no difference ie. fully charged. |

I have used my mum's mains charger and it works fine and hasn't fried the Navman. However, as the mains charger on Ebay may have a slight voltage difference, then I would email the seller and double check the voltage first before trying it. |
