Rob, this was the set-up we used to configure the X50V my mate uses, after he upgraded it to WM2005
Set 'GPS Program Port' to COM9 on 'Programs' tab (from GPS icon in Start, Settings, System)
Set 'GPS Hardware Port' to 'COM8' on 'Hardware' tab (from GPS icon in Start, Settings, System)
In TomTom set 'Other Bluetooth GPS' and port 'Se???a?? ?a??d?? st??...'
That all works.
Note TomTom also lists COM9, Native IR, COM3 and BT UART on COM5. None of these work
I don't think its time to mess around with any sort of reg hack as yet, for your information my mates x50v discharges it battery when it is switched off, Dell know about the fault and a revised ROM upgrade should be out soon - just keep your eye on the battery monitor when you turn it on - Mike
Launch a registry editor on your pocket pc and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial
There will be a key FriendlyName with the data Se???a?? ?a??d?? st?? COM1:
Just change that gibberish to Serial Cable on COM1:
