Missing maps

I've got a Navman 3450 sleeve and an Ipaq 3800 series (can't remember the exact model number) and Navman SmartSt v3 I'm pretty sure it's got SP2. I had most of the UK maps on a 128Mb SD card

All was working fine until the Ipaq battery went flat. No problem, I thought, I'll just reload the software; the maps are on a non-volatile memory.

So I reloaded the software and that's where it all went wrong. I can't get it to recognise the West Midlands. Whenever I start up the application, the map display just shows a big blank where the West Midlands ought to be. I go to the setup screen and deselect W Midlands and reload the maps, and then releselect the W Midlands and reload, I get an error screen saying something like "New Map Data" I click through that and the West Midlands comes up missing again. Curiously, Wales (which is part of the same region) seems to be there.

I've formatted the card (I've got "Storage Tools" on the Ipaq and that doesn't report any problems) and reloaded EVERYTHING (twice) and it still happens.

I'm at my wit's end. Any ideas?
