Lots of new ones appearing on websites for sale, a few of unknown brand, are they any good or is it advisable to stick with recognised names. Or is it that manufacturers are seeing a boyant market and are producing cheaper and equally good products, Are they inferior or not?

Whatever you Bluetooth you decide to purchase, go for a SiRF Star III as this is currently the best chipset available.

You will notice a lot of these unknown brand Bluetooths look similar to one another. This is because they are made at the same Taiwanese factory. Here's a sample of our best receivers:

Yeah alot of re branding going on, tbh the same could be said about PDA's. I would do a bit of background work before you buy, Jonathan is right SiRF Star III is a good chipset that is out. It depends on what you are looking for, do you need datalogging? battery life, removable battery, hardware on off switch etc. Make sure before you buy if you get UK support for that product as you dont want to buy somthing then find out it has to go to the other side of the world for repair.
