I posted the following to the 'bug fix' thread but I've not heard anything so thought I'd cast my question a bit further.

I have to say that TTN 5.0 was great and I appearred to have not suffered from some of the problems that fellow iPAQ hx4700 users appeared to have suffered from.

However, (you just knew that was coming, huh) now that I have upgraded to 5.1 I have problems in that it keeps throwing me out of the 'browse map' part. I start to slowly drag the map across the screen then before it finishes redrawing I'm looking at the Today screen.

When I then tap TomTom again to go back in, the TomTom icon down in the bottom right part of the Today screen moves one place to the left (and will continue to move one place to the left each time I restart it after it ejects me).

If I then uninstall everything and reinstall version 5 from the CD it works correctly again.

I then re-downloaded the update from the TomTom web site, upgraded to 5.1 again and keep being ejected again when I use 'browse map'.

I've even tried the whole cycle again after a 'hard' reboot without success.

Are you aware of this problem as I haven't seen any other references to this.

BTW I've updated the ROM to 1.10.08 a month or so ago without any apparent problems.

If you disable all the POI's in the Browse Map Options Menu does it still crash?

Well, spookily enough, you seem to have got it in one Roger.

I've just upgraded again, took the POI's off and it didn't throw me out. When I ticked a few POIs it threw me out again.

D'you think that is a TTN thing or an iPAQ hx4700 thing?

Trouble is I'd like to have a few cameras and GATSO's showing Wink

As far as I know the problem doesn't occur with the custom POI's, only the built in POI's.

Until now this problem was entirely due to people using cracked versions of TTN5.0 and TTN5.1 on various makes of PDA but now seems to be occurring with genuine versions of TTN5.1 on the iPAQ hx4700 series.

Using the poi.dat file from TTN3 was the previous workaround and may help.

Thanks for your reply Roger. Yeah it seems strange why it should do that just by upgrading to 5.1.

The POI's I was using and partly from POI.DAT and partly from imported POIs. Primarily it's for a trip to France next week and contains things like museums, parking, radar and Gatso's etc.

I've been trying with them ticked and not ticked and I think you've definitely sussed the cause.

It's a pity because I don't appear to have suffered anything like the same problems as other hx4700 users until this issue.

To be on the safe side, I think I'll demote it back to 5.0 for my vacation so I can use the POIs. I'd hate it to crash while I was away from my PC.

Roger, many thanks for your help I really appreciate it.

Pleased to be able to help.

Enjoy your vacation in France, that's where I'm leaving for on Monday for a few weeks. We may even meet head on in one of those impossibly narrow single lane roads that TTN5 unfailingly seems to direct you down!
