yes as a beginner in the PDA / SAT NAV department i need some help and guidance in these matters.

I have a IPAQ 5550 and TOM TOM 5...

I am not aware of any backup programs for my IPAQ that would backup the entire contents of my SD card..

Simply my initial question was are there any hidden files that i need to be aware of..I have 10 folders and one application.

Yes i require help..

If you were to purchase a copy of Sprite Backup Premium. The program installs on the PC and the other half on the PDA.
It will backup the entire PDA and storage card to the PC. If you was to do a hard reset on the PDA, running Sprite restore would return the PDA to the state it was in with everything working.
If you run the PDA version on the PDA and backup to the storage card a self extracting Backup you can restore the PDA even when away from home and the PC.

Some of us do. If you have set your system to show hidden files and Folders, then what you see is all of them.
The advise about using Sprite is a safe guard to resolving future problems with the PDA rather than having to re-install everything again.
How you use the advice given is up to you.

To back up your whole SD card, do this (all things to click on are menu entries unless otherwise indicated):

Put SD card into a card reader
Open a Windows Explorer view of the SD card
Click Tools > Folder options > View (tab) > Show hidden files and folders (radio button)
Click OK
Click View > Refresh
Click Edit > Select all
Click Edit > Copy
Go to the folder you want to put the backup files into
Click Edit > Paste

That's it and is basically what Lutz suggested you do....
