I am using a globalsat BT 338 with a HP 4700 PDA. Tom Tom is set for a journey and then 2 or 3 minutes into the journey Tom Tom goes off and the desk top comes on and the only way to get Tom Tom back is to reset the jouney until it goes off again. The same thing happens on the demo journey. Can anybody shed any light on the problem.

No. TTN5.1 still shows the same issue of utilizing the processor 100%. We haven't received any statement from
TomTom on this, left alone a fix. Very poor programming.

Also, I am very greatful for the service you provide without your forum I would have been completely at a loss as how to proceed with GPS. cheers mobile.

with regard to the overheating problem I put it to Tom Tom and there reply was as follows "Overheating does not occur with our software we have HP4700 models here with or without the update 5.1 installed and this problem does not occur". So what are we to make of that? Mobile

I can understand TomTom's attitude here. The system is designed to run at 100% or HP would have not released it. And I would question the 100% as other applications ar running at the same time (GPSgate, GPSdash 2, POI Warner and Trafcam).

It is not overheating, because if it did, the system would stop working.

Yes, 100% for 3 hours is not good and I have already had one motherboard replaced by HP one my 4700, but I cannot pin this on TomTom as I had just installed a softpaq.

I have stuck mine on the vent mount and blast air conditioned air onto mine to solve the problem until the hot battery....

Does it run at 100% on all iPAQs??

I run my TTN5 (Not 5.1) on my 3970 and dont get any overheating
problems.

I've never have tomtom crash on me

I do sometimes get tomtom START when I turn my iPAQ on....but I let it open, then quit the application.
