Evening all,
I recently upgraded from TT3 to TT5 on my iPAQ 2210 with Fortuna Bluetooth.
I'm off on holiday to cornwall tomorrow (6 hr+ drive) so I wanted to check everything was ok.
On a 20 min journey I had 3 examples where the display froze, but the application still worked, and it eventually caught up to where I was!
I've installed the v5.1 patch, and noticed it installed it into main memory, whereas I installed all of TomTom onto CF card,so I copied the new exe onto the CF card
so some questions,
1. is this lag/freeze normal?
2. Am I ok installing TT5 onto CF card, or should I install some bits onto main memory?
Thanks,
greg |

the lag/freeze may be due to some comms issues between your iPAQ and GPS. I'd not call it normal, but I don't know if there's much you can do.
Installing TTN to CF card is a very good idea. You free up valuable RAM. Just make sure to defragment the CF card from time to time, and to make backups of its contents every now and then (just recently had to watch a 1 GB SD card being corrupted by a beta program... ) _________________ Lutz

Interesting experience I've had over the past week. With my problems installing onto CF card (after a hard reset), I did another hard reset and installed TT5.1 into main memory.
I've then proceeded to travel around 1000 miles over the past week with no freezes at all, and TT5 has worked perfectly.
So maybe some components need to be in main memory?
regards,

If you can spare the RAM then you may gain some stability. but if you have a quality CF card (hi speed etc) then this is equally stable - with more free RAM... _________________ Lutz

Hi gregh
I have a 2210 and installed TT5 into the PDA. The maps and checkpoint I installed onto the CF card. It has never froze once, has given me no trouble at all and I certainly prefer it to TT3. |
