Tomtom 3 Wired GPS Problems

Hi

Have been running My ipaq 2210 and tomtom3 with car kit and tomtom wired GPS receiver for almost 18 months now.

Suddenly today when trying to use it i get no GPS signal reported by the software so i check all cables and they are fine, green light is on permenantly rather than flashing and i get the odd tone to say there is a signal but never for more than 3 sats and it drops to zero, i've been into the GPS tab and there is some activity on the compass and some bars on the graph but it isn't locking.

I read on another thread that if the green light is permanant rather than flashing it means the reciever is on it's way out, true? a new one costs about 60 - 80 pounds, tried resetting ipaq but no joy.

Anyone here experienced similar problems. Tom tom say on the website they can RMA defective parts, anyone have experience of this?

sadly enough a constant green light indeed announces the upcoming downcoming of the receiver... How about a Bluetooth receiver this time? They can be had pretty cheap already.

Andrew, it was myself who started the other thread as I had exactly the same problems as you except my TT wired only lasted about 9months. I got it from PDAMODS & I've read all sorts so I can't be hassled trying to exchange / refund. :x

I opted for a BT-338 after reading numerous reviews & I have never looked back since. After using this I would never want to go back to a wired version.
