I've been using the original silver TomTom wireless GPS for a while now with TTN5 and experienced no problems. When I start TTN5, it turns on Bluetooth automtically (on iPAQ 2210).

I tried a friend's 'third-party' Bluetooth GPS receiver the other day, and although it connected and worked fine (it was the BT-77) it didn't start Bluetooth automatically - I had to manually turn on BT before going into TTN5.

Is this normal? I had to selct 'Other Cable NMEA Device' (or whatever the option is called) in TTN5 to get it to work, so I'm assuming it's the driver that decides whether BT should turn on automatically or not? Like I say, it turned on automatically when I had the 'TomTom Wireless GPS' driver selected.

Cheers.

Only the 'Bluetooth GPS' settings automatically turn on and off the Bluetooth port.

Have you tried the 'Bluetooth Other' option?

Thanks for the info. No, I haven't tried the 'Bluetooth GPS' setting - I only used the 'Other NMEA' option as I was following the settings that someone posted in another thread on this forum, which they said worked well for them. Possibly it will work with the 'Other Bluetooth GPS' setting as well, I'll give it a go.

If anyone can confirm that the BT-77 does work with the 'Bluetooth GPS' setting on an iPAQ 2210, and turns the Bluetooth on automatically, that would be great.

In the meantime I'll try and grab the unit from my mate and give it another go! I'm interested in getting one for the much improved battery life, but want to make sure it works OK first.

Cheers.

You will probably need to update to TT5.1 if you haven't already.

I have a Fortuna Clip-On and, prior to the 5.1 update, I had to use Other NMEA...

Since the update, I can now use Other Bluetooth... and the Bluetooth auto on works fine.

OK, I may it give it a go. I hadn't updated to 5.1 because from what I'd heard so far, it only fixed things that weren't a problem for me anyway. And what with people reporting various problems using 5.1, I was a bit reluctant to upgrade seeing as 5.0 seemed OK for me! If worst comes to worst, I guess I can always go back to 5.0.

Cheers.

Hi

Apologies if this has already been answered there were 108 pages returned in my search.

I have an X50v, TT5 and a paired BT-77 GPS configured as 'other NMEA cable, Com 7'

Unless I manually connect to the GPS receiver before starting TOM TOM, I keep getting the Blue tooth console popping up. Is there an easy way for it all to start automatically? I read somewhere about the 'BtBrowserEnabled' registry setting would that do the trick ?

Please feel free to point me to another post.

Thanks

The BT Browser enabled should do the trick. I have mine set to other NMEA cable and the BTBrowser enabled and it automatically connects to the last used BT device on the COM port. ( I have several different BT GPS devices)

I have found that the TTN 5.1 update automatically adds the 'BtBrowserEnabled' registry setting. It also usually allows you to use the 'Bluetooth Other' GPS option.

Thanks Guys.

I'm sure you get sick of people asking the same questions.
