where is this loc'n where the problem occurs, either describe or preferably lat / long if you can use os stuff - the reason I am interested is that I have a couple of other theories re radio transmitters and such like - would like to have a look against some of my maps - cheers mike |

i can't give lat/long but it's on the a267/b2100 at marks cross (if you go towards tunbridge wells direction) just after brickyard lane there a unnamed road between those 2 points it locks up
otherwise if you know of a lat/long map i could show you in more precise place if you still have problems _________________ TomTom 5001 |

I am still struggeling with this. I have now tried all sort of radio stacks, none any better than others.
The only work-around that is of any use is to delete your GPRS settings..... |

Alix, the loc'n I describe is specific to work within the confines of BAE Systems Warton site, located near to Preston, its on the river Ribble outside the site the phone locks to Bpool, or Preston on site it constantly switches networks, this in itself does not present a problem with the sat nav as the site is "off map" apart from OS which seems fine, my issue is the ability to make a call with the XDAIIs constantly beacon hoppig - Mike |

I am using a MK2 TomTom BT GPS receiver and it crashes more than it works if the GPRS settings on the XDAIIi have not been deleted.
So right now I am sitting with £200 worth of kit that won't do Jack Schitt. TomTom say it's not their fault, O2 say it's not theirs.... |

My problem is a little more strange?
I always run TT5 in Flight mode, so the phone is not the problem for me, however, when I'm using TT5 and drive into certain areas, TT5 freezes for about 5 seconds then exits. The XDA2i doesn't crash and I can start TT5 again.
It's almost as if it's running out of memory, as it's only in built up areas where there are a lot of roads. BTW, I don't run it with any POIs displayed, I do however run it with warnings for speed cameras but the areas where it bombs out don't have speed cameras.
Another thing I've noticed, is if I browse the map it's fine, however, when I turn on a lot of POIs again it freezes for a few seconds and then exits.
I've changed my memory settings to give more to programs, which makes it a little better, but still does sometimes. |

Found the problem, it seems that this is a general problem with the XDA2i (and the variants).
Bascially, if you are having troubles with the TT5 exiting, this is not due to the phone, it's due to the POI file, poi.dat which is in the map directory. For some reason the XDA2i cannot read this very well.
As a thought, I put the older TT3 poi.dat, it has cured all the problems.
Before anyone suggets that my TT5 poi.dat is corrupt, I tried a few versions of it. |

I have tried upgrading the rom,
I have changed the POI to version tomtom 3
I have upgraded tomtom to 5.10
I have replaced my XDA11i
I have tried using "other bluetooth device
I have turned the phone off and tomtom works fine but i want to use the phone.
Tomtom 5 still locks up when making/receiving calls or when searching for a signal.
The cure ,for me, finally
I changed my pq1 1gb (45x) card to use a Transcend 512mb (80x)sd card
Now works without locking up (i have made 10 phonecalls ,handsfree)after 140 miles |
