|
|
I updated Tomtom 5 to 5.1 tonight, but the version number shown in the app hasn't changed - still says 5.000. I'm a bit confused as to whether it's installed correctly or not: it looked like it installed OK, no error messages or anything came up.
Has anyone who has applied the 5.1 update seen the version number change to 5.1, or has everyone's done what mine did? |

It should say 5.100 (5160). I think I read installing it from the .exe file sometimes doesn't work. I installed mine direct from the zip file. |

Hmm, I did the install from the zip file too - just unzipped all the files to a folder on the desktop and ran the setup from there. I tried the .exe version first, but it wouldn't run as it said the version of setup was too old (or words to that effect), which was a bit puzzling in itself!
I'll try it again..... Any other tips would be appreciated! |

The only thing I did differently was to run the .exe file directly from within Winzip i.e I didn't save it to the desktop. |

Well, it worked eventually.
I couldn't get it to work running from the zip, so I eventually copied the CAB files over and ran them manually. That worked, but left me with 2 TomTom installations (I had originally installed it to SD card and the CABs installed the updated versions to the main memory!). One reinstall later to main memory it still wouldn't run from the zip, so I used the CABs again and it upgraded fine.
It shouldn't really be this hard though, should it? I'm (I think) reasonably computer-literate and it took me a whole evening to get this up and running.... |

I think I need help with this as I used a thread in this forum to move my TT5 installation to my SD card which works fine.
I used the update yesterday & it installed the update onto my O2XDAII & the version showed 5.10 but when I used the same methods of moving it over to my SD card the version number read V5.0.
Does the upgrade install to a different directory?? I copied over the Navigator folder over to my SD card & changed the shortcut in \windows\start menu.
thanks, |

I am experiencing the same problem with TT5 Update 5.12 for Palm OS.
(TT Navigator5 for UK supplied on SD card, Tungsten T5)
As far as I can see, the updater puts four files in the Palm's installer;
cn.prc
navigator.cab
navigator.ini
start.prc
These files by default will be installed to the Handheld, not the SD card. Is this correct? If not, then which files should go where?
The only way I can find to reveal the version number is to plan a route and then click on the tiny "version 5.000" under the GPS status. After I tried to update this still shows "App version 5.000 (4890)"
I presume from this that the update has not worked.
alFR, I am also computer literate, how/what did you do with the cab and ini files to expand them? And where did you do it?
All info gratefully received. |

Apologies to alFR (the original poster)
I was so excited to see a problem similar to mine I jumped in and hijacked your thread.
I have started a new thread for my question.
Once again, please accept my apologies. |
