Here's the update...

I got a response from TomTom via the website-submitted query, advising me to either return the mount to the retailer if I had purchased it within the last two weeks, or if I had had my TTG longer to get in touch with TomTom customer support again and they would send out a replacement.

Having had my TTG for about two months, I found the telephone number so I could speak to someone direct instead of waiting for another internet-submitted query to be answered. Got through after a few attempts, waited in a short queue, blah blah blah, and spoke to someone who organised for a replacement to be sent out straight away. Magic!

An e-mail arrived within minutes asking me to complete my address information via their website, which I did, and then another e-mail arrived to confirm they had received the address and would be sending it out soon!



According to the website, I'm being sent a "HR Global 2 Base (new gooseneck)" mount, whatever one of those is. But at least it should hold my TTG better than the old flop-down one!
