There are so many differing posts about this. Some find a fix by using different SD card, and some find a fix with by upgrading the rom/radio. Some (like me) have never had any problems. I've had a number of different SD cards and used all official rom versions and never seen a problem with ttn5.0 or 5.1

I've got a strange problem with TT5.1 and my XDA2i.

If I select too many POIs for viewing on either the Live view or the map browser, TT hangs for a few seconds and then exits.

I've searched and searched for this, but it seems nobody has had the same trouble?

I'm always in flight mode when using TT and I'm running ROM 1.11.162 WWE.

Found the problem, it seems that this is a general problem with the XDA2i (and the variants).

Bascially, if you are having troubles with the TT5 exiting, this is not due to the phone, it's due to the POI file, poi.dat which is in the map directory. For some reason the XDA2i cannot read this very well.

As a thought, I put the older TT3 poi.dat, it has cured all the problems.

Before anyone suggets that my TT5 poi.dat is corrupt, I tried a few versions of it.

Hi x-isle,

I have tried your suggestion that it could be the POI.DAT file and have copied the TT3 version across. Though it seems to be a little better I am still getting lockups on a 1GB SD card. If I use a 256Mb card I get no lockups at all.

I have raised this with TOMTOM (as so have many others) and get a response saying to rebuild the XDAIIi from a Hard reset.

I have tried all sorts of things and I think I will simply use the smaller SD card from now on.

For those of you having issues which you think are ROM related, you can workaround (and give some leverage to arguments with service providers) by skipping the ROM install completely. I had to do it with The Orange ROM and fixed all my woes at the price of some (unmissed) apps. Involves a hard reset though.

More info here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=28701

Even if you do it as a short term thing to positively identify the issue then revert it might be useful. It doesn't involve using another ROM which has always given me the heebeegeebees and isn't a one way street.

I have an XDAII and it sort of works perfectly. Even with 5.1 it still has trouble switching from navigator to phone when someone rings me.
A collegue of mine has an XDAIIi and I can't get it to open com5 to set it up with a Leadtek 9537. Any thoughts?
