I have a friend who is purchasing a full set of Europen Maps for his TomTom Go 300. I am just wondering will these work with my TomTom Navigator 5? Any help appreciated. Thank You. George

Yes. But once he's activated it on his then you won't be able to activate it on yours.

You could activate to another device after 7 days, but that would break the licence agreement, and would ruin his chances of any future map upgrade he might want to make.
