I'm in the process of installing voice prompts for POI warnings which entails replacing the original data.chk file.

OK, I've backed up the original data.chk file via Windows Explorer by moving the original file to my PC. So I now do not have a data.chk file in my TT5.

However, I want to move the new data.chk file into TT5 on my PPC, but Windows Explorer does not let me copy anything across to my PPC even though its syncronised with ActiveSync.

It will let me copy/move out of my PPC, but not to it. What can I do ?

TT5 will now not start at all !

One thing I noticed is that copying by dragging a file to the destination directory on the PPC does not work.

One method that does work is to copy the file (e.g. by right click and select copy), then switching to the destination directory on the PPC followed by a paste command...

Hope this helps.

Panic Over !!

I've sussed it out. I had to create a Syncronising folder on my desktop which you can copy files into. The PPC then checks this folder and copies any new files across.

I put the new data.chk file in there, and was then able to move it to the correct location.

It now appears to be running OK

PHEW !! I thought I had really cocked things up.

I use windows explorer to drag & drop files all the time with my Mio 168.

I find it best if you start explorer and reduce to top half of screen the in activesync click explore and set that window in the bottom half of the screen, open the directoies you want to use (PC dir in top window, PPC dir in bottom window) then drag & drop to your hearts content. Works fine both ways.

Using a second version of windows explorer to view the PPC directories can sometimes be tempremental.

Hope it works for you.

Hi LiveLifeGoJump,

That was exactly my problem, as I could not drag/drop anything to the PPC using Windows Explorer.

It worked the other way around though.

Is it possible the PPC could be write protected in some way, and if so, can it be removed ?

some files may be set as 'Read Only'. Right click on them & check the properties.

Copying from PPC was always posible for me, it was only copying to PPC where the problem occured until I started using the Activesync exploe option to read the PPC.

ps did you know activesync 3.8 is available from the Microsoft Upgrade site?
