Hi - bit of a SatNav newbie, so far I've only (successfully) added LPG and speed camera POIs to my One. Reading Barry's instructions, it seems as though this is written to run on a Pocket PC running Tom Tom Navigator. Is it possible to use it directly on a TomTom - if so, where do I need to copy the files?

I've tried running the OS GPS Convertor.exe directly on my normal Windows XP laptop, but it tells me that the Exe is not a valid Win32 application.

Any ideas?

Hi there
Yes, I'm afraid it's for Pocket PC only.

Hi there Smile

Is your software compatible with Win CE .NET 5.0 ?
If no, can we have a version for the above OS??

Hi
It doesn't use the .NET framework, and I don't have the tools or the need to do so. Have you tried running it yet on whatever kit you're using? That would be the simplest way to find out...

First of all, thanks for the reply Smile
I tested the exe on a PNA with wince .net 5.0 and it didnt work. I got the message "can not find OS GPS Convertor.exe or the path or..libraries. etc etc". I think that means that is not compatible....

Thanks anyway.

Hi again
I'm afraid that if it can't run the .exe then it's not going to work. All the rest of the setup instructions are just about getting it to run smoothly and seamlessly with other apps.
Hope you find something else that does work.
Best wishes

Barry,
I don't supose there's a fix for it to work with Windows CE5? Looking at using your program on a Navigo 885......

Regards

Sorry, still no plans to develop it any further. I don't have the developer tools to do so, the kit to test it on, or the time to spend on it. That will only change if and when I change my kit.

Hi! barryd, I've got a Tom Tom ONE IQ Routes and want to use the OS convertor so that I can show OS coordinates. Your paper is really good but I'm very new to all this and am not sure whether I can do this with my handhelld. Can I run the convertor on a PC or does it have to be a pocket pc. A few simple instructions please.
Best regards

Stuart

Hi Stuart

Sorry but that program was only ever written to run on a Pocket PC so it won't work on your TomTom ONE or on your PC.

The TomTom ONE manual I've just looked at online says you can enter locations as latitude and longitude. So if you have some known OS grid references that you want to use, there are plenty of web sites that will do a conversion to lat & long for you.

Best wishes

Barry

If anyone is still interested, I've written a program for CE-based navigation devices which shows your position on a free OS map.
