Hi,

I have read through posts and followed suggestions but I still have a problem connecting Globalsat 318 to TT5 running on an HP5550. I have a second BT GPS receiver (Navigon!) that works fine, but the 318 is a better receiver.

I can pair the 318 fine, but in TT5 the message is always "No GPS Device!" no matter what configuration I try. I see the little wheel spinning in top right corner (whatever that means).

The correct serial port is 8, but no joy connecting either as another BT device or indeed as a Cable NMEA device at ANY baud rate.

I have upgraded to TT5.1 and even tried running BtRegTweak first.

I did at one point find a post suggesting that you need to change a setting in receiver itself, but I am darned if I can find this again. A colleague suggested there was a registry tweak (other than one above) but could not recall any details.

Most other posts seem to suggest that NMEA device setting seems to work but are there others out there for whom this still has not worked.

Any suggestions welcome.
Steve.

PS I have uninstalled TT5 and then re-installed but all is still the same Sad

you need to set the receiver to output NMEA data. It is currently set to SiRF

lbendlin I had the same problem, TTN5 used to work fine with BT GPS till I had to do a hard reset and reinstall TT then did not work. Switched with SirfDemo to NMEA and now works, so thanks!

Interesting though - on Destinator PN, you can search for a GPS only in SIRF mode and it finds it and works fine. When switched the GPS to NMEA, I have to search only in NMEA mode then it also finds and and works fine.

So was just wondering, if I've got a sirf III device, does switching to NMEA means lesser capabilities or is it just the way the two devices talk and got nothing to do with the GPS / SIRF III performance?

It has nothing to do with performance, it's purely a different "language" or data protocol.
