This actually happened with TomTom Mobile but I expect Navigator is the same.

I decided I wanted to drive home via the tyne tunnel, which isn't the anywhere near the quickest route home so I had to add a 'go via' for there. So I placed a POI right in the middle of the tunnel and selected go via this point and it planned the route perfectly. So far so good.

So I set off and drove into the tunnel and obviously lost GPS signal while I was inside, the GPS picked up the signal again immediately on exit, but I thought it would then just navigate me home.. but no. Because there was no signal when I passed the waypoint it figured I hadn't gone there yet and so tried to get me to go back through the tunnel again!

If you keep driving it should re-route you surely?

If you had used itinerary mode, you could have marked it as visited

In TTN3 there was an option to "Skip Next Waypoint" or something very similar.

By default it was not on the main menu pages but you could change this in the settings and have it displayed on one of the main menu pages.

So with just a couple of taps you could skip the offending waypoint and the route would be recalculated.

Just another feature missing from TTN5.

No, it would continue to constantly try to route me back into the tunnel.

I solved the problem by selecting navigate to home. My POI point is now outside the tunnel to avoid this problem!

But TT5 has a better facility. If you click "Mark visited" it clears that waypoint and any which are before that point in the route. It gets over a problem I sometimes had with TT3 when I resumed an itinerary part way through. It was sometimes difficult to stop it trying to take me back to the start

It's not missing in TTN5. Just enter the itinerary menu. Select the waypoint and change it to 'Visited'. If you then exit the itinerary menu, TTN5 will navigate to the next waypoint.

You'll appreciate that's not a simple thing to do whilst emerging from a tunnel at rush our then negotiating a busy roundabout then joining a dual carriageway..

It's clear why this happens, placing a POI in a tunnel isn't the best idea!

The easiest solution would be to place the POI on the exit ramp of the tunnel sufficiently far from the mouth of the tuinnel so that the unit could get a fix before reaching it.
