Perhaps this is something that TTN3 did as well, but...

If I am following a route, say on the B3165 in Dorset and the main road bends sharply left but another road carries straight on, then TTN5 will tell me to turn left. This happens in reverse when the route I want to take is straight on at a bend, then TTN5 does NOT tell me to turn off the main road.

Is this something I have not configured properly?

Question

Just a quirk in the map I think. It happens a lot, even with TT3. More often in towns where you in effect have a t-junction and the road you are taking to your left does have a different name, however on the ground it's marked out as continuing straight on.

A few times I've heard the instruction, indicated left and then realised my error!

Just one of those quirks of sat nav I'm afraid.

Almost certainly a bug in the map, the same thing happens to me in the village I live in and on my way into work - happens with TomTom Nav and TomTom Go!

The problem is that you can't always tell the priority of a junction from a map. A human navigator would have the same trouble in a lot of cases.

SmartST and CoPilot will also do this sort of thing sometimes.

I use a MIO168 tucked in my shirt pocket with earphones when out on my motorbike and I find some of these errors highly annoying. Worst in practice are those where main road bears left with a small side road either straight on or slightly to the right a bit like a Y junction - Total silence so I blindly follow the main road. This applies with both TT3 and TT5.
I would really like a "ding dong" fool sound when TT detects a deviation from a planned route.

Hey good idea about the ding dong sound when the route is deviated from. I second this suggestion!
