Strangely enough it's usually the people that work there get it wrong. Have you ever phone a company and asked for directions to their office ? Geez!
Strangely enough I found the B4237 which is a lot South West towards Newport, so I think Celtic Manor have got the instructions wrong on their website.
If you believe what Celtic Manor say about the B4237 its showing on NAVTEQ as A48.
Can just see 175 people getting lost with SatNav systems! |

What is needed is some kind soul who lives nearby, to stop at the entrance of the car park and make a POI which could then be downloaded 175 times!
Any offers? _________________ Richard

I'm going casual, too hot for suits ;) Seriously though, I don't know what suite we're in but I'll find out and report back. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The first exit south of the junction has been upgraded to a dual-carriageway and re-numbered as the A48. The second exit which was the A48 has now been re-numbered as the B4237 and this is the road to take. The entrance to the Celtic Manor is the first on the right (300 yards)through the central reservation just before it ends. This then takes you over the M4 to the hotel.
I haven't received a reply to my application yet but hopefully I'll see you all there on Saturday.

Looking at the Celtic Manor instructions there are two car parks. There is an underground one and a free above ground one.
The free one can be reached by using Postcode NP181WA as the destination. Assuming you have TT V5!! For others if you use lat/long of -2.93139 and 51.60221 to make a POI that will do the same.
The underground car park has no Postcode equivalent but the lat/long is -2.93313 and 51.60281, and make a POI to Navigate To ... _________________ Richard

The FREE, TomTom sponsored PocketGPSWorld.com GPS Meet in Wales is nearly here.
We are entering the final days before the Wales GPS Meet. You still have a short time to register. There are only a few places left though so get in quick…
As we get closer to the GPS Meet we have more details of the companies attending and the goodies on offer. Thanks to TomTom we have organised this meet in the prestigious Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales. We have our own dedicated meeting room for the first time. Over 175 people have registered so far, and we will have 22 experts from the GPS Industry attending.
But first , to the bits that you have been waiting for: The Goodies!
As is our tradition we will be holding a prize draw called the Tom Tom Bola (in honour of our sponsors this time) the GPS companies have been donating various prizes for it. Currently the list is as follows:
ALK: 2 copies of CoPilot Live with BT GPS (UK)
Anquet: 2 copies of Anquet Wales 1:50,000
Easy Devices: The first GlobalSat SD502 GPS in the UK
Memory-Map: The Navigation Workshop DVD and 1 Memory-Map region.
NavMan: to be confirmed
Nemesis: 2 Sim Card Managers (USB and Serial)
TomTom: to be confirmed
We have had a fantastic response from the GPS Industry and there will be representations from most of the main manufacturers and even some of the retailers. In particular TomTom are fielding a dedicated team led by Roy from Customer Services and NavMan are sending a delegation of customer support experts. We also have people from both NavTeq and TeleAtlas to answer your questions about mapping, data collection and processing and, of course, not forgetting Dave Burrows who'll be representing ALK.
There will be one or more specialists representing the following companies:
TomTom, ALK , Alturion, Brodit, Destinator, Elan, GlobalSat,Holux, Mitac, NavMan, NavTeq, Rikaline, and TeleAtlas. Not forgetting the PocketGPSWorld.com Team.
One polite request though, if you are there to voice a complaint directly to a company, please be nice to their representatives :D. Many of them will be there on a voluntary basis and will be giving their time for free (after all, GPS is their hobby as well as their work!). I'm sure that they will genuinely want to help answer your questions or concerns.
Register now for your FREE place: If you have any questions about GPS or just want to share your experiences with other like-minded users, then please register now for the GPS Meet by emailing gpsmeet@pocketgpsworld.com stating your name, email address and number of people attending. We will send you a confirmation email within 24 hours. Registration will close at 17:00 on Friday.
For more details and to register click here.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Confirmation of registration
Some people have emailed me saying that they have not had confirmation emails. These have all been sent out, and only one was bounced.
The good news is that we have all your registrations saved and that everyone reserving one or more places has got them. At the moment we have nearly 200 people registered. Lets hope you dont all turn up on the dot of 11:00.
I will be sending an email out tomorrow, with a copy here, detailing how to get there, and including the schedule of events.
Looking forward to meeting you all Saturday. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Thank you, that matches my co-ordinates for the underground car park. |
I'm using Garmin's Mapsource and that coord is placed neatly on the roundabout exit going towards Newport on the M4 whilst Celtic Manor's own website (and my memory) suggests that they are located on the north side of the M4 abot 200 metres away. It'll be interesting to compare actual positions when we get there.
I expect that this is the correct exit road and there are signs leading to the correct turning.
See you all there...

Given that this was posted (and read on July 1st) I hope you mean today rather than tommorrow as I have to leave home at 0800
One of my colleagues received an email yesterday (we registered separately and both received confimation) but I haven't got a copy yet. |
