Hi, I have just upgraded to TomTom 5 and brought a BT-338 receiver. I have tested the receiver with a laptop and all is fine. I cannot get it to work with TotTom on my Ipac 5450. I have tried with the Bluetooth manager running (Device is paired) and without. Can someone please let me know what I am doing wrong. I cannot even see it with the test software. Crying or Very sad

This has nothing to do with TTN5.

Go to Bluetooth settings, advanced, services, serial port, and make a note of the outgoing port - that's the one you need to use.

In Bluetooth manager, amke sure you have connected to the SPP service of the receiver. Pairing is nice, but not required.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. My IPAC is running 2003. I have checked the serial port and it is on Com 8.

I cannot find any reference to SPP in the Bluetooth manager. I have checked and the outgoing connection is showing on the ipaq but the inbound area is empty.

Any help would be much appreciated.##

In Bluetooth Manager search for new devices, once it found the BT-338, tap it to find the available services. Find the SPP service and connect to it.

Hi,

I don't know if this will work for you, but I have a SPV M2000, and I had the same problems you are having. find out what your out going com port is then.

In Tom Tom 5 select other cable NMEA GPS NOT Other Bluetooth GPS, set baud to 38400 and choose Com Port ? (whatever your out going port is).

And it should work!

I hope this info helps.

Wink

hi im having the same com port problems with BT338

blutooth sets up com port 8 outgoing 5 incoming

but when i scroll through all the options on tom tom gps comport 8 is not in any of the selectable options

I done a few tests

gps info (globsat testing software) loaded on ipaq without tom tom loaded and conects fine and com port 8 available in the options
loaded on tom tom software and com port 8 availability is gone in gps info software options (disapered for some reason)

is it a tom tom software issue ?

or is the ipaq issue ?

can the outgoing com port for the bluetooth device be set maually ?

tried updating with latest tom tom gps and it gives a couple more com ports available but not com 8

tried tom without gps info software on (in case it was a conflict)

looks like tom tom gps cant see the device on com port 8

spent a lot of money puting this lot together

if anybody has a solution to this LMK by mail or pm or post here

This issue had me stumped for a few minutes too...

Don't select Bluetooth GPS in TomTom

Select "Other Cable NMEA GPS" not Bluetooth GPS

Baud Rate 38400

Bluetooth Serial Port COM8:

You may need to click in the Bluetooth Browser BT-GPS-xxx

Hope that Helps!
