if i wanted to use my PDA as a type of removable storage is this ok? so if i wanted to save a word document or even a C++ file onto my PDA then when i got to my office i could plug the usb cable in and then see this as a removable drive or something, then transfer the files onto the PC, would i need any drivers on the other end PC, or would it be Hot-Swappable?
are PDA's good for transferring any type of files? i will be buying a PDA really to use for GPS and use instead of a pack of 10 floppy disks to transfer data-is this wise? and does it do this kind of purpose well?
many regards

You can set up Activesync to synchronise the files in your 'my documents' folder on the PocketPC into a folder in the 'my documents' folder on your PC - usually called "Pocket_PC_Name My Documents"
This will continuously sync while your PocketPC is connected to the PC if you wish.
Just be careful regarding the 'conversion' options - but standard settings are usually OK for most people
You should also see an addition to Explorer on the PC called "Mobile Device" (it's near the bottom) which allows you to browse the folders on the PocketPC while it is connected to the PC - at least on Windows 2000

This also works well with XP also. If you have a 5450 then you can sync over WiFi, and even have the PDA in another room.
There is of course a speed hit, but they are an order of magnitude faster than floppies, with larger capacity _________________ Mike Barrett |
