POIHandler.com and the Author of POI-Warner have put their hands together in order to offer you a new service to synchronize the Points of Interest (POI) data between your PDA and POIHandler.com. Now you can easily maintain POI's (Overlays) on your PDA and synchronize these with POIHandler.com. Using this new feature makes it easier than ever to maintain Points of Interest data. To use this new feature the minimum requirement you will need is POIWarner 2.x which you can upgrade for free!
Make sure you register yourself today so that you can start using this brand new service right now!!
How does this synchronization system works?
As soon as an on-line connection between the Pocket PC and www.poihandler.com exists (e.g. trough GPRS or Activesync which is connected by a pc on the internet) all available Points Of Interests on POIHandler will be represented in the appropriate main groups on POI-Warner. All marked Points of Interest are automatically downloaded (synchronized) to the correct map folder. New Points of Interest can be added either with POI Warner or directly from the TomTom navigator (starting from version 1.42). Existing Points of Interest can be edited or if no longer current anymore deleted. The local changes are synchronized automatically during the next on-line connection (or manually) to www.poihandler.com. The changes are available immediately for all users.

At the moment autosyncing with the camera database they use would and is a backward step. Would it be possible to set something up with POI Handler.com so that our own (read Pocket GPS) database could be automaticaly synced? That would be as they say 'coooooool!' _________________ Garry Platt |

Why would it be a backward step?
I've compared the two files and it seems to me that the poihandler one is a little better as they are split into subsections for the speed of each camera so you can set over speed notice to the appropriate speed for the camera.
If I merge the two files I see around 1700 unique entries.
If there is a genuine reason to keep this source separate, why doesn't somebody just upload it to poihandler...
I use POIEdit to sync with Poihandler BTW, works VERY well.

I'd rather not start another thread on this subject but I would like to remind you of the following:

We have expended a lot of our own time gathering, checking and compiling this data to ensure it's accuracy and integrity. POI-Handler do not and by uploading our database you are damaging it's integrity and the long term sustainablity of this service.
