I agree with the gripe about TomTom support.
These forums have helped with the problems I had before TomTom have responded once - other than the standard e-mail acknowledging my request.

The map upgrade (and including Europe maps with the product) is pretty much worth the upgrade in itself. I live close to the M6 toll road and not having it was a big issue for me.

Having built in POI warnings more than compensates for the loss of the voices warnings for me - personal preference.

But being able to rotate the screen - best feature yet.

You can have voice warnings.

We have had them available since February. Check out this article for details.

The proximity warnings on route are pretty much worthless unless you can guarantee that all the POIs are going to be within the tollerance TomTom have allowed from the route. I know that a lot of the Camera POIs are not within these limits, neither are a lot of the biult in POIs. Using the proximity is not a lot worse than checkpoint or poiwarner in TT3.

I think the frustration for many users, myself included is that several standard features in v3 disappeared and some features which were available via addons such as checkpoint were never included and now the add-on no longer works.

That said, the map upgrades and map rotation really do help! Just people aren't used to losing functions following an upgrade.
