I am going on holiday and want to take my sat nav with me for the hire car I'm getting. I have mounted my curent card cradle in the card etc, and hidden the wires. Whilst I can still get them out, putting them back is a bit of a pain.

I am looking to see if you can buy a Cigar lighter adapter the same as the one that comes with the TT car kit for the IPAQ 2210.

I'm sure that there must be a car adapter out there that provides the correct voltage, and that has the right type of plug.

I can easily remove the reciever and cradle but all the wiring is hidden away and I'm just trying to save myself some effort here.

Any sugestions would be gratefully apreciated.

Cheers
Chris

Hi......not sure what you mean by a tt car kit, if you simply want to charge up via the 12v Cig lighter then try this:- http://www.boxwave.com/products/minisync/minisync-retractable-cable-hp-ipaq-2210_46.htm
with the cig adaptor, its also good when in the office/home, as it plus direct into a usb port to syn & charge - I'd be lost without mine, v.small too.

There is a problem distinguishing between Car KIT & Car HOLDER. The former requires 12V while the latter requires 5V.

If you have a dedicated 2210 Car Kit with a DC jack on the LHS of the cradle, then you need 12V. I gave up looking (Tom Tom will not supply) & made one. If you're reasonably adept with a soldering iron then the parts you need are this & this (2.1mm).

Maplins may well have the same or similar. All you need to ensure is that the cigarette plug is fused, DC jack is 2.1mm & you connect +ve to the centre pin.

I got the maplin thingy (regulated 1000mA) powersupply, gave it the fattest tip with +ve down the centre pin and 5V. Pluged into the LHS of the TT card kit (dedicated for 2210) and it worked great. Powered it fine.

All I need now is for TT to ship my TT5 upgrade so I get the portugal maps ready for my honeymoon in 1.5 weeks... woo hoo.

Thanks to all.

If you have the TomTom Car Kit, (where round power plug goes into the left hand side) then you can get power leads from www.cpc.co.uk
