SD-501 no lights no matter what device I try it in!

I have purchased an SD-501 Globalstat GPS for my XDA and when I plug it in - the lights dont come on at all.

My friend has an XDA with the exact same SD-501 card - his works in my phone, but mine doesnt work in his (no lights).

Anyone got any ideas please?
