So Navigon 5 update now on my Mio 168 & although I have not tried it on the road as yet I must say it runs much faster than it did.
I can now move the map about without waiting an age for it to re draw the map so thats a good start. It will be interesting to hear your views on the update & do you find it runs much faster ? I am interested to know if the GPS arrow icon can keep up with the car & not be 100 yrds behind.
Not sure I understand the new map color downloads as I do not see them in my account on the Navigon site, can anyone see them. |

Hi there,
I am also following the German PDA navigation board and there someome linked to Navigon posted a few "map colour" sets to download (mentioning that he didn't have time to upload them on the Navigon servers yet.
Well, for those of you, who can't wait, here's the link:
http://www.pocketnavigation.de/board/tid75644-sid1536d7ef88510ddeb520e6dc3405df84.htm
basicalli, it contains three map colour sets, one like the old MN4 style, one with MN4 colours but green route, and one grey with blue motorways.
Haven't tried them yet as I have just come back from holiday in Croatia and at least one mosquito was following me all the way home....(picute me, slapping my face, while typing this) |

I have tried the MN 4 / Green type which I find much better than the default MN 5. |

Hi,
sorry, forgot to translate the bit with the instructions
It says you just need to place the colour scheme file in the same folder as the *.map files. In my case, it's the Navigon folder on my storage card.
Hope this helps |

Thanks Tomcat but must be a bit thick today.
On my storage card there are no folders just one file "British Isles.map".
So should I place the four .mpl files from the zip file here or is there another folder? |

YES, the files can be downloaded from my web site and include installation help in the zip files.

Well I have given the new patch/update a good test today & although the prog runs faster it still can't keep up with the car while driving & is just no good when driving in the city so I'm binning it & sticking with TT5.
Must say I'm very disapointed but also very glad I didn't buy this software on it's own as mine with my Mio all for £212 I would be gutted now if I'd spent £100 or whatever it cost just for the software. |

Thanks for all the help got it now :D
Must say I seem to be one of the happy ones. Apart from the original colour schemes (now sorted) i have no problem with Navigon 5 at all. works perfectly for me. |

That's interesting PsiFox,
Perhaps it's something to do with my settings ?.
The software now runs fine & is a lot faster but it still can't quite keep up with the car like Tom Tom 5 does, my Navigon is always behind, so if I pass a road at about 40mph it takes N5 a second or two to pass the same road but TT5 runs on the map in real time.
I guess this is fine out in the sticks where roads are few & far between but in the city I can't use it as the lag is too much & I pass the turnoff just when N5 tells me to turn now & the map shows the turn.
It's a same as I like the N5 layout. |

Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon since upgrading to 5.1??
I tried to do a route simulation of about 25 miles and it drew an "as the crow flies" straight line.
Not much use as I do not have a microlight!!. |

There's a lot of information on the German forums about this with many people suffering the same problem. Complete with pretty pictures of what translates via Google as an "Air line".
They say that it's the copy protection operating. This happens on all the pirate versions out there (I'm not suggesting that's what you have) and on some of the legal versions.
The solution apparently is to contact Navigon and obtain a new activation code.

Linknet,
Thanks for the swift reply.
I did have some issues with the upgrade as it would not run with the ipaq docked; it may be a corrupt installation now.
I will uninstall everything and start again. |

I'd be interested in the results and whether it cures the problem.
