Hi

I have been using my tomtom GO for about 6 months after purchasing it from Staples. Recently it stopped working. I took it into Staples who sent it back to Tomtom for repair.

Tomtom then called Staples and told them it was not worth repairing my Tomtom and to offer me another one as it had now been discontinued. The manager at Staples offered me the only Tomtom GO that they had left in stock which was an ex display model which was scrathed on the sides.

I would like to know what my options are given I still have 6 months left on the warranty and given that the Tomtom GO has now been discontiued. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

You should ask them to give you a TomTom Go 300 instead.

Have a look at the TomTom site already. There you will see the difference between the 300, 500 and 700. The 300 is the successor of the original GO.

I have opted for the tomtom 300 which i picked up today. Yet more problems though!!!!!!!

I turned it on and was working fine then all of a sudden the screen seems to freeze when i go to the menu. Whilst it is on the map it is fine, i can zoom in and out, however when i goto the menu the screen freezes. Any advice would be appreciated otherwise it's back to Staples tomorrow.

Try a reset - paperclip through hole in bottom.

have you added any Points of interest and overfilled the card?

Could anyone with a tomtom 300 please briefly explain anyhting else i need to register when i first use my new tomtom 300. For now i have simply inserted the sd card and begun using it. Is there anything else which i should have done.

P.S I took the faulty one back to Staples and exchanged it for another grand spanking new one, i just love the smell of brand new packaging ;-)

No that is all you need to do.

Having said that it is a very good idea to log on to the TomTom.com site and create a My TomTom account. One of the things you can do is store your Product Code. The Product Code is the one piece of information that you MUST NOT lose. Without it you will not be able to update the maps and application at a discount next year or whenever they are updated.
