What do you mean by sea level data? According to Navman the 510 doesn't provide elevation. |

Well mine did........once. bottom of screen above the dark blue address bar, the lower L/H side was filled with lighter blue background with height above sea level data in white lettering. But as I say not been able to find it again. |

Perhaps they removed it with one of the updates. The area on the display you refer to is near the GPS single strength indicator, isn't it? |

BTW, I noticed if you goto one of the gps status screens (3rd I believe) you'll find the elevation in bottom right hand corner in very tiny print along with other info. Strange being Navman support said the 510 doesn't provide elevation. My firmware version is 3.0027 incase you don't find it on yours. |

No, surely that is the elevation of the satellite highlighted. If you change satellite so does the elevation. |

I'm pretty sure its your elevation. Mine is consistant with my hand held gps. I typically see a variation depending on satellites of between 65'-91' and according to data from usgs my actual is 76' above sea level.
My understand is that elevation is a bit more tricky to calculate and requires a minimum of 4 strong satellite signals.
But then again I haven't come across any documentation regarding the info displayed either. |

I say again, if you move the highlight from one satellite to the next, so does the elevation. This indicates the angle of elevation above the horizon. It does not give your elevation above sea level. |

I can confirm sealion's comment. Definately the satellite's elevation. |

yep, looks like you're right... Knew it was to good to be true.
So what purpose is served knowing the azimuth and elevation of a satellite with only two significant digits? |
