Help! New Route 66 Navigate with Leadtek GPS Won't Work

Am a non-techie, bought Route 66 Navigate bundle for hubbies 40th. Included CDRom Route 66 Benelux and Leadtek GPS. Trying to run it on an xda1 running MS Windows. Get message "cannot connect to com 1" and trying every other poss connection, com 2 etc get message "cannot retrieve data from satellite"
The Route 66 software seems unstable - have installed it a number of times to the xda1, and each time there is a different start up menu, and now, I don't even get the error messages on connection, as if that part of the softwware has disappeared. Is this a known problem, or simply coincidental?
Having read your previous postings I have switched the disable the receiving beam settings - I have actually tried it on and off. The light on the GPS unit is flashing so I guess it is wotking.

Any advice please?

i may be SO wrong here but wasnt the route66 navigate software designed for smartphone not pocketpc smartphone ill check when i get home tomorrow afternoon unless someone can beat me to it
