Have recently purchased a second hand PiN300 which overall I'm highly delighted with.

However I do have a few questions just to put my own mind at ease and hope someone can assist.

1. When I initially start the GPS SmartST Pro V3 it shows the licence agreement every time. Is this normal and is there away to get rid of it?

2. When driving along have noticed that every so often the GPS makes a strange noise (bell/buzz don't know how to describe it) is this normal?

3. On other questions I've noticed that people mention there are 4 CD's is this 3 for the maps and 1 for the PC software or am I missing something?

4. What's the life of the battery before it needs re-charging? I drove with the system on for just under 3 hours before a warning appeared and was wondering if this is about right?

Thanks in advance.

Yes this is normal and there is no way to avoid it.

2. When driving along have noticed that every so often the GPS makes a strange noise (bell/buzz don't know how to describe it) is this normal?
Not sure what this is but I have heard mention of something similar before.

3. On other questions I've noticed that people mention there are 4 CD's is this 3 for the maps and 1 for the PC software or am I missing something?
There shoould indeed be 4 CDs - 3 map CDs and 1 application CD

4. What's the life of the battery before it needs re-charging? I drove with the system on for just under 3 hours before a warning appeared and was wondering if this is about right?
That sounds about right. The PiN (MIO 168) has a 900mAH lithium-ion battery which will typically last from 3-6 hours on a full charge dependent on usage.

If you close SmartST then every time you restart it, you will get the licence screen. Unless there's some sort of hack, this will always be the case. If you shoud down the device without closing SmartST first, it doesn't present the licence page but resumes where you left off.

It sounds as though the previous owner has installed some active POIs and enabled sound warnings for them. Do you notice an icon on the map when this happens, or a visual waring appear at the bottom of your screen? P32 of the .pdf manual describes this. Alternatively it's possible that the 'Speed warning' function has been set. This is described on P31.

If it is the Full European package it will have four CDs. As you say, this consists of one CD for the application and three for the maps. If it is a single region version you will only get two CDs I think; one for the app. and one with the maps of your region. You may get other maps on the CD but these will be shown as being not unlocked for your device on the Desktop.

I can't find a spec. for battery life but I'd have thought that 3-4 hours would be the norm with GPS use and backlight on. Did you not get the car charger with it?

Thanks for the replies I'll give the suggestions a go.

I was very wary about buying a second hand system but was also concerned about the high price of a new one. I think overall I've had a good deal (from the bloke in work) and would recommend anyone, travelling on a regular basis to unfamilier places to get one.
