Hi, new to the forums and looking for some help.

I need a GPS locator/transmitter that is self-contained, battery operated and small in size. A plus would be that it could transmit its coordinates over the net, but not required. If anyone has any suggestions, thanks in advance!

p.s: If anyone is curious as to why, I believe my babysitter is taking my son to her boyfriend's house when I ask her not to but I dont have the time to follow her around. I plan on sticking this either in my car or in the diaper bag, thanks again! ;)

A Data Logger can record the journeys, and while it doesn't transmit anything back at least you have a trace. Have a look at the DeLorme Blue Logger for example.

The other option (personal locator device) is really expensive and probably overkill for your scenario.

Welcome

As well as the Bluelogger, you can get a cheap hand held GPS unit (check out the Garmin ones for example) that will record a track log which you can upload into a computer to analyse later. They won't give you real time tracking though.

If you are in the UK then you can also track someone using a mobile phone, check out http://www.childlocate.co.uk/

Good luck!
