Dunno if this has been reported before.

This preview of Windows Mobile 2005 (aka Magneto)

suggests built in support for handling multiple GPS connections. It's about 4/5ths down the page under the heading "Settings, built-in drivers".

It looks rather similar to the way that Franson GPSGate works in outputing GPS data on a COM port that can be shared by multiple applications. Presumably it is without all the track logging & replaying functions that GPSGate has though.

It is basically a Virtual Com port program - you set your port that your gps is attached to and then set the port that you want your various bits of GPS software to use. Exactly like a cut-down GPSGate, as you say.
