which type of memory card to compliment?

Hi, I have decided to shortly purchase a HP4700 pda for my gps needs (as well as for work!). However, i'm am struggling to decide on a SD or CF memory card given that i will have the flexibilty to choose either. Anyone got any advice on the pros and cons of each type of card hence best type and any suggestions on reliable brands? (I am looking at 1gb capacity)
